We have been learning to write INTERESTING acrostic poems.  We have tried to use alliteration, onomatopoeia's and amazing adjectives.  we chose to write about winter because of the storms that Feilding have been having lately.

Windy weather blows my windows shut
Icicles coming down from the windy weather
Nasty rain makes me furious
Torturing weather makes me horrified
Extraordinary weather makes me horrified
Rainy weather makes the rapids faster.

We have been learning to write Haiku poems. We learnt that Haiku is a Japanese word. There is a special structure to a haiku poem. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third line has 5 syllables. Here are some examples from the students in the class.

Bugs smell really bad
I don' like bugs couse they smell
They give me nightmares

By Corey

"Creepy Bugs"

Bugs are creepy as
Bugs are easy as to kill
Bugs have six long legs

By Corey

"Creepy Spiders"

Bugs eat leaves and grass.
I like to play with spiders
They are disgusting

I can eat insects.
I am scared of spider.
I saw a spider.

By Timi

"Bugs"

Creepy crawling bugs
At night I'm shaking in fear
They are disgusting.

Literacy today

In literacy on a Friday if we have worked well all week, we get to have 'Fun Day Friday. This is when we get to play a variety of games and puzzles which is great to develop our oral language skills. Miss Skelton is really proud of our learning and is particularly impressed with the development in our vocabulary and spelling.
